Hello and Welcome to the home of the IEP Tamer. I am Tanya East. As a parent and an aunt to some very special children with disabilities, I understand how overwhelming the IEP and 504 process can be for families. I have witnessed firsthand the good and the bad of special education services and the fight parents have to go through for their disabled children to receive the most basic of services. As a non-attorney advocate, my goal is for every student I represent to receive all the special education services they are entitled to under IDEA and the ADA. I have experience with ADHD, Autism, Tourette's, Anxiety, CPTSD, Trauma, and learning disabilities. I have learned a lot by supporting my nephew, my friends' children, and my son the last several years. I am also a member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA) and have taken some of their trainings. I have also attended Pete Wright's trainings, DIR Floortime training, as well as coaching with one of the leading special education advocates in the country, Karen Mayer Cunningham.
I have my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Pre-Law, and Communications from Saint Edward's University. While my day job the last 18 years has been emergency management, my passion for the last six years is supporting disabled children receive the services they need by collaborating with the entire team to further the child's education and make meaningful gains.
Ask me about my summer / start of school year specials to help you and your student get on track for the school year.
